I have been taking photographs as long as I can remember. They are an important ‘means to an end’ with my paintings, but I never just copy photographs but exploit them for the details and topographical information that they can record. The language of light in photographs is very different from the language of light in paintings, and I’m only interested in paintings. Having said that, the best of photographs by me or anyone else can of course be seen as works of art in their own right.
